In this session, we talk about microevolution and natural selection. We start with the movement of genes and populations and move on to talk about what Charles Darwin noticed about finches on his Galapagos Island trip. We segway into natural selection and discuss 8 things that need to be true in order for natural selection to occur. We mention biogeography and its effects, along with listing 3 types of selections (stabilizing, directional, disruptive). We use the Peppered Moth as an effect of the directional selection and the heterozygote advantages as sources of variation. We end with multiple choice practice.
