Write an article in which you compare and contrast Japanese schools and schools in your own community. (Sample Response below)

Introduction:

これから日本の学校とアメリカの学校を比べます。似ているところも違うところもあります。

Three similarities/differences:

一つ目の違いは高校の学年の数です。アメリカの高校は四年間ですが、日本の高校は三年間です。アメリカでは高校一年生のことをフレッシュマンと呼びます。でも、アメリカの九年生は日本で言えばまだ中学生です。

二つ目の違いは学期が始まる時期です。アメリカのほとんどの学校は八月の終わりから九月の始めにかけての時期に始まります。ですが、日本の学校は四月に始まります。アメリカでは夏休みは学年を一つ上がる間にあります。例えば、７年生は夏休みが終わってまた学校に行く時には８年生です。でも、日本では学校が四月に始まりますから夏休みが終わってもまだ同じ学年です。

アメリカと日本の学校は違いもありますが、似ているところもあります。日本の公立に通っている生徒もアメリカの公立に通っている生徒も家の近くの学校に行きます。生徒がどこに住んでいるかによって、どこの公立に行くかが決まってきます。公立に通う生徒は近所の子供たちと同じ学校に通えるからたくさん友人もできて楽しいです。

My preference and reason(s):

私はアメリカの学校の方が好きです。一日中同じ教室にいなくて良いからです。一つの授業が終わるとまた違う教室に行って次の授業を受けますから少し授業の間に体を動かしたり気を休むことができます。日本の学校に通ったことがないので、いつか行ってみたいと思いす。
