We begin with a quick explanation of why logical fallacies are useful to know for AP Lang. Even though you likely wonโ€™t come across logical fallacies on the Multiple Choice portion of the test, knowing and avoiding common fallacies in argument is a crucial component of this course. In this session, we spend the majority of time unpacking eight of the most common logical fallacies. We define each, explain why each example is so common, and provide several everyday examples of each. The following logical fallacies are discussed in this session: Red Herring, Tu Quoque Fallacy, Casual Fallacy, Fallacy of Sunk Costs, Appeal to Authority, Equivocation, Appeal to Pity, and Bandwagon Appeal.
